Animation permanente Château de La Roche Jagu
Acquired by the Departmental Council in 1958 after being donated by the viscount of Alès, the château takes us back to the days when the land was ruled by lords.
Set in grounds of 73 hectares, 30 of which are open to the public, it overlooks the Trieux estuary and every summer is a venue for exhibitions on various topics, shows and more...
Since 1990 the grounds have been undergoing an extensive clean up and improvements following the devastating storm of 1987. Instead of replanting the forest exactly as it was before, the Departmental Council turned to the talented landscape architect Bertrand Paulet to redesign the grounds. The work, carried out between 1992 and 1998, resulted in a mediaeval-inspired contemporary design that blends in perfectly with the site and was officially opened in 1999.
Every year the château holds different events such as exhibitions and concerts.
